Water scarce in 566 villages !

70% villages get drinking water through tankers !  As the temperature rise, the Gujarat government declared 566 villages to be suffering water scarcity and put relief measures in place. The Government has started providing drinking water through tankers in 70 villages….

Most of affected villages are in Surendranagar, Kutch, Rajkot and Botad districts.  Compare to 42% at this time last year, water levels in the 2014 major dams is 57.85% this year, where ever required the government will provide water through tankers.

Shortage of water causes production loss to the tune of Rs. 10,000 Crores annually to the units operating only in KUTCH area as said by Mr. Nimish Phadke (MD), Federation of Kutch Industrial Associations FOKIA…

Rain water is soft, fresh and pure water being made available to us every year…We need to take steps to harvest this best quality of Rainwater at one time nominal cost…Huge volume of water at our doorstep can be used throughout the year for drinking, cooking in households or for process, cooling tower, irrigitation etc in Industries…..! We can convert water scarcity to surplus status…!

Water Reserves are drying out ! Replenish rightaway Rain !

We live on a parched planet. Farmers till arid pastureland and policymakers fret over empty reservoirs, dry rivers and thirsty cities. And that only scratches the surface – literally – of the world’s water problem. Subterranean aquifers, the world’s reserve water tank, are also running dry. The consequences could be dire, especially for water-stressed and fast-growing Asia.

These repositories of water located deep underground in permeable rock, soil or sand contain about 100 times the amount of water found on the Earth’s surface in streams, lakes, rivers and wetlands. If you’re in central Africa, South America or some parts of Europe, chances are you’re standing a few hundred feet above one.

The gap between water supply and demand – predicted to reach 40% by 2030 – will not be filled by surface water resources, so aquifers are being exploited more and more for agriculture, power generation and daily use in fast-growing cities.

About 30% of the world’s freshwater comes from aquifers, yet a third of the 37 largest aquifers studied by the University of California between 2003-13 were severely depleted, receiving little or no replenishment from rainfall.

Rain water draining out is mere a wastage of this precious resource...Let us channelize Rain Water from our Roof or Surface, filter and let it flow in the Aquifers to replenish Ground Water....
